History
The RainReserve
TM Rain Barrel Program is a citizen-initiated effort that began in the fall of 2005, when a group of
Natural Step for Communities Study Circle participants began installing rain barrels at residences in an effort to make Dane County a more sustainable place to live.
The effort proved successful and the program continues to grow. Through 2008, community members have purchased over 3,000 rain barrels and volunteered countless hours for rain barrel installation and construction days.
Community support and participation continues to be the foundation of the Sustain Dane Rain Barrel Program, with varied groups making signficant contributions:
Municipal and county government
Local businesses
Community groups
Academia and students
